Pirate radio refers to the illegal transmissions. It joins the meaning of both the illegal aspects of transmissions, as well as to the occasional use of vessels sea, as having the pirate as the base of the transmissions.A pirate radio station is free, unlicensed, illegal station broadcasting in violation of the laws of the country it is located in. Unlike clandestine stations, pirate radio stations are seldom political in nature Instead, pirates are usually hobby broadcasters operated just for fun by their owners.
Pirate broadcasting is still new in North America, they're mostly operated on the FM and AM bands, and were rarely heared out of there local area. There have been only some unlicensed broadcasters in the United States and Canada. Most pirate activity in the United States and Canada takes place on weekend evenings and nights, with holidays like Labor Day, New Year’s Eve, and President’s Day also popular. Voice of the Voyager is considered to be the starting point of pirate radio today. The Voice of the Voyager began a practice that is now standard for almost all pirate stations today.
